Beschrijving: Jean and Suzette, two orphans, are raised by the inn-keeper Frantz Hobscher who mistreats them. When World War I is declared, the imperial authorities order Hobscher to trick spies into thinking he's Alsatian. The children's protector, Jacques Morel, is sent to the front. Some time later, the young man stops at the village, carrying a very important military letter. So, Hobscher decides to seize the letter and shuts the young man in the cellar. However, Jean is able to get into the cellar and Jacques tasks him with delivering the letter to the French command. While being pursued by Hobscher, Jean is taken in by French soldiers. The spy is unmasked and, a few months later, Jean receives honors for his courage.
